Wood pellets from German Pellets
German Pellets GmbH is Europe’s largest manufacturer of wood pellets. The company was founded in 2005 in the Mecklenburg city of Wismar on the Baltic coast. Today, German Pellets operates 14 plants across Europe. With their combined production capacity, we are capable of supplying several hundred thousand households with environmentally friendly wood pellets.
In recent years, this CO2-neutral and renewable fuel has succeeded in establishing itself on the market...and its future is bright; experts are predicting that the wood pellet market will continue to grow in the long term.
The U.K.’s Largest Coal-fired Power Station Switching to Wood Pellet Fuel
The Drax Group Plc, Britain’s biggest source of carbon dioxide emissions, is converting its coal-fired plant in the northern English town of Selby to what will probably be the largest biomass plant in the world and will thereby become one of the leading producers of renewable energies in Western Europe. “We see a key part of our future as converting from essentially a coal station to a biomass station,” said Drax CEO Dorothy Thompson in an report of the Bloomberg news agency.
German Pellets to Build Second US Pellet Plant
German Pellets is further expanding its production capacities in North America. In Urania, a town in northern Louisiana, German Pellets will soon begin construction work on a new pellet production facility. The output will be about 1 million tonnes of wood pellets per year. Urania will be the German Pellets Group’s second North American site. In April a plant will open for production in Woodville, Texas.
